Fiat Auto today revealed the first details of the new Croma range to make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and built at Fiat Auto's Cassino factory, the new Croma will go on sale in Italy in June. Based on the Opel Vectra's Epsilon platform, the new Croma is a tall, MPV-like wagon, unique in it's size class. Sharing the Vectra's 2.7 m wheelbase, the 4.75 m long, 1.77 m wide Croma is more compact than most European rivals, but at 1.60 m (63") high it is taller than any modern wagon and as tall or taller than many C-segment MPVs.

The New Croma will be available with a choice of three trim levels, five engines and either manual or automatic transmissions. The engine range will consist of the latest gasoline and diesel engines from Fiat-GM Powertrain: 130 CV 1.8 L and 150 CV 2.2 L 16V four-cylinder gasoline engines; the new 120 CV and 150 CV 1.9 L four-cylinder Multijet diesels, and a totally new 2.4 L five-cylinder Multijet producing an impressive 200 CV — as much as Ford/PSA's new 2.7 L V6.
